Connecting a UPS in Kiev

Uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) provide uninterrupted power supply to critical pantographs in the event of a centralized power failure. The AVR Plus company performs installation and connection of UPS at industrial and domestic facilities – we work quickly, conscientiously and at affordable prices!

Basic requirements for a UPS installation room

In order to create adequate operating conditions for the equipment, the UPS must be connected in a climate-controlled environment. Before installing the UPS, make sure that the ventilation and air conditioning systems are working properly; the microclimate of the room must meet the regulatory requirements:

humidity level – up to 95%; roof leakage and condensation are not allowed;
low dust level;
flooring – made of antistatic materials or treated with an antistatic agent.

Selecting a location for installing the UPS

The choice of a UPS connection location requires the organization of free access to equipment for unhindered maintenance and repair. When installing an uninterruptible power supply, space may also be required for auxiliary equipment – for example, connecting a UPS to a generator requires a stabilizer to compensate for frequency fluctuations. If the operating voltage of the uninterruptible power supply is higher than the nominal voltage of the outlet, the UPS is connected to the switchboard with a separate line and automatic switches installed.

Commissioning for UPS

The next stage after installation and connection is commissioning, during which the key parameters of the uninterruptible power supply system are tested:

correspondence of the output current to the ratings of tires and automata;
network cable section;
supply current to the input;
checking battery voltage;
Proper installation and adjustment of the UPS.

If the connection and configuration of the UPS is completed without errors, an acceptance certificate is issued, giving the right to warranty service. The act fixes the compliance of the installed system with the project documentation and the briefing on the operation and maintenance of the equipment.

UPS Parallel Connection

Single-phase uninterruptible power supplies with double conversion are connected in parallel in highly reliable networks of various capacities. To evenly load the UPS and prevent parasitic currents, the output currents are synchronized in frequency, initial phase and amplitude by organizing communication between uninterruptible units via a signal cable.

Parallel connection of two UPSs

In parallel, it is convenient to connect two uninterruptible power supplies with different nominal DC voltage; the greater the power of the UPS, the higher the voltage.

UPS serial connection

When you connect the UPS in series, the power increases many times, but the risk of overloading one of the devices increases, so you should not connect more than two uninterruptibles. To prevent power surges, special attention is paid to grounding the power wires of the UPS, each of them is connected directly to the outlet.

Cascading UPS

The cascading of several batteries extends the battery life of the system, but due to the high probability of interference, this method is rarely practiced. For cascade connection, batteries with additional output connectors are used, the level of current distortion is regulated by filters at the rectifier input.
