Main switchboard (Main switchboard)
The main distribution board (MSB) is a power distribution board that is installed at the input of the facility. When the main switchboard is installed at the input of a part of the object, it is called sectional.
An automatic system for commercial metering of electricity (ASKUE) is installed in the switchboard of the main switchboard, if it is prescribed in the project, or an automatic system for technical metering for electricity (ASTME), if it is provided for by the terms of reference for manufacturing.
Functional purpose of the main switchboard
The functional purpose of the switchboard is the reception and distribution of electricity. The board contains switching and protection devices (circuit breakers, fuse blocks, residual current devices, devices for monitoring the state of devices, network analyzers and other devices). In fact, the functions of this device can also be performed by a 0.4 kV switchgear (RU) of a transformer substation, by distribution points (PR) and other low-voltage switchgear.
Types and configurations of the main switchboard
Switchboards can be installed in buildings with any layout; for networks of different configurations, floor-standing, wall-mounted and built-in boards are produced with one-way and two-way service. An alternative solution is a modular block cabinet main switchboard, in which each section is equipped with its own protective panel and doors. Various modifications of switchboards and cabinets of the main switchboard differ in terms of configuration, method of dividing units and design; depending on the functionality, the cabinets and panels of the main switchboard are divided into five types:
- introductory – contain introductory, accounting and control departments;
- introductory with ATS – the function of automatic reservation is provided;
- switchgear – contain switching devices, may also contain blocks of manual and automatic control, as well as special equipment;
- control devices for external high power units;
- installation of reactive power compensation (RPC).
Scope of the main switchboard equipment
The power supply through the main switchboard of the main switchboard optimizes and reduces the cost of power supply to objects with a large number of pantographs that consume impressive amounts of energy. Most often, main switchboards are installed in the power supply networks of multi-storey residential buildings, administrative and public institutions, office and shopping centers, industrial enterprises and warehouses, infrastructure facilities, educational institutions, hospitals, etc.
Composition and schemes of the main switchboard
The main switchboard includes three types of panels – introductory, sectional and distribution; without exception, all main switchboards are equipped with circuit breakers and protective devices, which are located on the lead-in and sectional panels. Main switchboard circuits for different purposes differ in configuration, the number of inputs and outgoing lines; if there are two or more inputs in the circuit, the ATS system is installed on the sectional panel.
The distribution and switching of currents is carried out by means of busbars – copper conductors with insulators, which allow switching from the main bus to the backup one and servicing the main switchboard without turning off the power. For the convenience of servicing the shield and reducing interference, receiving, transmitting and telemetry devices are structurally separated from other elements of the circuit.
Reconstruction of an existing or construction of a new main switchboard?
When reconstructing an existing or building a new main switchboard, it is necessary to take into account the following parameters: dimensions (for transportation to the installation site), type of performance for protection against moisture and dust, the need to install metering and control devices, installation method (mounted, floor) for convenient and functional connection of suitable and outgoing cables (bending radii of cables are taken into account), the need to use terminal blocks, extenders for cable connections (especially when using parallel connection of several cables of large cross-section), development prospects (% of the shield volume for reserve) and many other parameters, about which the specialists of “AVR PLUS” know.
